Established in 2005, Moydens Handmade Cheese is a well-respected artisan cheesemaking business, based in north Shropshire.
The small family-run business has developed an ever-increasing range of traditional cheeses, using local Shropshire milk. Each cheese is named after a well-known Shropshire town or landmark.
Martin & Beth Moyden, along with their hard-working team, are on a mission to keep artisan cheesemaking alive. They’re committed to creating a range of cheeses that are the essence of Shropshire, provenance preserved.
From their Shropshire farm, the Appleby family produce a small range of award-winning cheeses - Appleby’s Cheshire, Appleby’s Smoked and Appleby’s Double Gloucester.
The traditional Cheshire Cheese recipe has been handed down through the family. The calico- bound cheeses are stored in on-farm maturing rooms until they are carefully selected for distribution.
The traditional Cheshire grassland pastures and salt deposits help to produce the unique milk flavour needed to make true Cheshire Cheese.
Founded in 1993 in Cleobury Mortimer, Hobsons Brewery is a Shropshire-based independent brewery.
The brewery produces a family of award-winning cask ales and bottled beers. The traditional brewing method uses carefully selected ingredients, including hops harvested just 7 miles from the brewery.
The company has grown to be the stand-out brewery in the region. Hobsons Brewery is the proud winner of numerous notable awards. These include CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain in 2007 and SIBA Best Green Business in 2010. Brewing the 'Hobsons way' adopts a common-sense approach, with a focus on quality, service and sustainability. The beers are honestly brewed the green way with a serious commitment to wind, sun and waste power generation.
Our salad leaves, herbs and seasonal vegetables are grown in the beautiful rolling hills of north Herefordshire by Lane Cottage Produce, a family business established in 2011.
Once the business was a small market garden, using a van to supply local villages, markets and food festivals. Today, it’s grown into a business selling its produce exclusively to carefully selected shops and restaurants.
All the produce is painstakingly hand-picked to ensure that only the best leaves make it to the plate. Everything is grown in soil using only natural fertilisers and no artificial pesticides.
Paso-Primero is an independent, family run company in Somontano in the central Pyrenees of northern Spain. Winemakers Thomas and Emma Holt, originally from Shrewsbury, settled here to achieve their ambition of bringing together old world traditions and modern techniques to make their own wines, in their own style.
With a burgeoning love of wine and a keen sense of adventure the couple travelled the world with the dream of becoming winemakers in their own right. Stops in New Zealand and Canada, via a three-year stint at Plumpton College studying for a degree in Viticulture and Oenology, left the pair brimming with enthusiasm.
The couple teamed up with a winery in Spain and they haven’t looked back since. Paso-Primero has gone from strength to strength winning awards and critical acclaim for their ever expanding portfolio.
The delicious oil from Shropshire-based producer Bennett & Dunn has a gentle creamy nutty flavour. It can be used as a healthy alternative to olive oil for marinades, dipping and drizzling. It also cooks at a higher temperature without effecting the many health benefits, character or taste.
The seed used to make the oil is grown in an environmentally friendly way and the farm provides a habitat for insects, small mammals and birds by preserving and planting hedgerows, maintaining ponds, building beetle banks and creating wild flower field margins.
Bennett & Dunn is a zero waste business. Our by-product, called Rapeseed Cake, contains all of the Rapeseed Husks after we have pressed the oil. This is sold to a local cattle farmer as animal feed.
Corbetts Meats, based in Shrewsbury’s Market Hall, sell every type of meat and game imaginable! Their chicken comes from Whitchurch and is all filleted and jointed on the premises.
Sarah Crow of Strawberry Fields Farm is an award-winning breeder of pedigree Shropshire sheep and has just been awarded three gold stars at the 2018 Great Taste Awards for her Shropshire Lamb Shoulder.
